One idea that might work: Create a steel sheet pile element with, let say length of 1m (this element wont be curved) then utilize dynamo to place and rotate the steel sheet pile along the curved line so you place out these element in an array with not space in between them.Hope that made any sense? Nice tutorial. Just to add some info from my experience. There is kind of issue with bridges in Revit. Because bridge geometry is mostly in horizontal and vertical curves, we are using adaptive family as you show. But If you want to make section in random position it is impossible :D It is snapping profile geometry from the beginning of the path. Anyways this can be avoided by creating multiple solids and splitting them where you want section. Another issue is when you want to reinforce it. If you place rebar in vertical curve-you can not anotate it and then you need some manual work.

    • @EngineerBear90
      @EngineerBear90 2 місяці тому

      Hey Ranveer Singh! Thank you. Yes, that is possible. I have two solutions. 1. Add a new instance parameter(important that the data type is set to area) that multiply the width and length. 2. Use dynamo to select all the area in the excavation pit (also the sloped area) and add the area together. I have created a video about how to do that(Revit dynamo - calculate area, length and volume for a complex object), follow the link in the description. You can also report back the area to the family, also did a video on this.

    I don't understand the advantage of the switch parameter. Wouldn't it be much easier to create two types (1x circle and 1x square) within the family, which are simply controlled by the visibility parameter? When using them, I simply decide whether I want the circle or the square as the shape.

    • @EngineerBear90
      @EngineerBear90 3 місяці тому

      Hey. Thank you:) And it is a great suggestion for a video, a deep dive into combining parameters, I might do that one day. To answer you question. 1. Combining several parameters can be done! Just increase the number of list inputs in the node List.Combine, you also must increase the inputs for the node String.Concat, and every other input must be filled with the code block value "-". 2. Combine a number with the combined text with the node +. 3. To retrieve a type parameter the node Elements.GetParameterValueByNameTypeOrInstance from the package rhythm must be used. 4. The yes/no parameter can be retrieved just like a normal parameter, the output value will be 1 or 0, and this can be changed to yes or no with an IF statement.

    • @EngineerBear90

    • @ibligah
      @ibligah 3 місяці тому

      Thank you very much for the quick answer. @EngineerBear90. I mean that in this family, when the nodes are at the same height, you define the transversal slope with the initial and final angle. But when the nodes of the spline are at different heights, the transverse slope is generated by itself, it does not remain horizontal. I want the platform to always remain horizontal and not twist with the spline. Do you know if it would be possible?

    • @EngineerBear90
      @EngineerBear90 3 місяці тому

      Okey, I think I understand. That is correct! You can rotate it with the rotate parameter back to horizontal (a bit of manual work) You can also try to impliment two more adaptive points at both ends of the cross-section, also adding two more curves for the bridge(either generate it with dyanmo or get thi curves from "TheRoadPeople". Iam planing to make more bridge videos, but wont be before summer atleast. You can also send me the bridge to my E-mail if you want to so I can check it out. @@ibligah

    Hi, I don't know if you tested in depth, but there is a problem when the project has true north with an angle other than zero. I tried to do it myself, even python script with sin cos projection on x y radians = math.radians(angle) x_new = x * math.cos(radians) - y * math.sin(radians) y_new = x * math.sin(radians) + y * math.cos(radians) return x_new, y_new I tested all the ways and came to this video as a second way. The problem is the same. Some help? T.T ?

    • @EngineerBear90
      @EngineerBear90 4 місяці тому

      Hi, Tru creating a fresh site without any true north rotation. Alternatively, use the node Geometry.Rotate, with the geometry representing the points. The origin for rotation will coincide with the survey point coordinate. Rotation will happen within the xy plane, so the axis to use is the z-axis, with degrees aligned to the true north angle. (I am currently away from a Revit workstation, thus unable to verify this method.)

      @@aparajitadas2706 That's definitely a more intricate task! However, you can incorporate an adaptive point at the bottom of your box girder cross-section. You'll need an additional line (curved or spline with points) at the bottom to accommodate the varying part. This can be achieved using Dynamo or by simply duplicating the centerline you already have. If you'd like, feel free to email me your bridge, and I'd be happy to examine it.
